I believe in full disclosure in government operations and full accountability for anyone involved in misconduct. I do not consider myself to be a politician, but rather an employee of the citizens of Hermiston. We are Hermiston and we have Hometown Values.
Background
I graduated from Hermiston High School in 1981 (Go Bulldogs!).
I then attended Chemeketa Community College.
I am lucky to be supported by my amazing wife Karen and our family. My wonderful kids: Jason, Jessica, James, Cody & Shilo. My grandchildren: Klay, Cloie, Gadge & Gunnar. Along with all the friends and family I have gained along the way.
Employment
I have worked with the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office as a reserve for 40 years. I am currently a Sergeant/Reserve Coordinator with the Sheriff’s Office as well as a Rescue Diver and Red Cross CPR Instructor.
I recently retired from a 31 year career at the Oregon Department of Corrections. I was able to rise through the ranks from Officer to Lieutenant.
While with the Oregon Dept. of Corrections, I earned the Life Saving Award.
Recently, I have had the honor to work as the Chairman of Washington Oregon Joint Interoperability Committee (WORJIC).
Governmental Experience
I have had the honor to serve on the Hermiston City Council for 3 terms (12 years) with 6 years as the City Council President.
I have also served on the Oregon State Bar - House of Delegates in Region 1 for 6 years
